Here are a few pics from our trip to the star last week:

The markers are Eli’s sword, for those who wouldn’t have figured that out!

Busy fighting someone, I think

Reading about the star…pretty advanced 2 and 3 year olds!

The view from the star

We went to the pool yesterday with some friends and had success in the water!  Eli was content to just play on the steps of the pool, and kept saying, “I’m not afraid”.  It was pretty cute.   Sammy had on a life jacket and talked about getting in, but chickened out whenever it was time to actually do it.  Finally I got in and he said he wanted to jump in to me.  (Yeah!!)  So I’m positioning myself when all of the sudden, Eli runs up behind Sammy (standing at the edge) and shoves him into the water!  He went in head first!  Thankfully I was right there, but the damage had been done.  There was much panicking and, “get me out!  get me out!”.

After that, I continued offering to get in the water with Sammy, but he refused and was content to play along the side of the pool.  Sometimes he would get brave and say he was ready to get in, but wasn’t able to actually do it.  Then, all of the sudden, he decided he wanted to jump into the water!  I was at the edge and he, almost without warning, jumped right in!  The fears were gone after that and he did wonderfully!  I really couldn’t believe it!  Sammy has been in a pool one time, I think, without panicking so this is a MAJOR accomplishment!  (Lots of exclamation points there, but I’m really excited.)

I grabbed my camera to get a few pictures to share, but nothing great.  I was too busy in the pool with the kids!

I think Eli will do better next time.  I made him get in with me once, and he didn’t panic but the water was a little chilly for him.

We tried to get a good picture of all the boys, but this was the best one:

Then they got silly and made faces!  Serious/fighting face:

And again.  Eli is so hilarious!

Happy face:

Sad face:

Surprised face:

We’re off to the pool with some friends!  Maybe we’ll have some fun pool pictures to share soon…if Sammy and Eli even get in the water!

Sammy loves to pretend, of course, and his new thing is to pose like an action hero.  Here is a series of his moves:

“I have to run to my Daddy!”

I misplaced our camera battery charger a month or so ago, but just as I was about to order a new one, I found our charger in a desk drawer that I KNOW I’ve searched at least twice before!  Frustrating that I was so oblivious, but great being able to take pictures again!  Eli and Sammy had a little “incident” on Sunday that resulted in a black eye for Eli so I thought I’d take a photo of it.  Little did I know that it would be an evening full of photo opportunities!  Yea!  We took a bunch, so I’ll post them throughout the week.
Here’s the black eye.  It’s getting better, but we did get some comments on it when we were out shopping yesterday morning.  I wanted to wear a sign, “I don’t beat my child”.  Luckily for me, he looks pretty reckless and crazy even when we’re at the grocery store so I don’t think anyone questioned my story.  🙂

Teddy’s getting more of a personality these days.  Eli tells me what Teddy says or when he wants something.  Sometimes he wants to give a hug or he tickles Eli.  He often likes to “sit” on Eli’s head, which is the funniest thing in the world to our two year old.  It’s pretty funny seeing Eli’s imagination take off.

One of Sammy’s first pictures.  I held the camera steady while he pressed the button (and covered the flash).  He was very proud of himself, and I thought it was pretty good!  I got my hair cut last week, fyi.  It was rainy and a bit frizzy, but you get the idea!

Sammy snuggling with Daddy for some pictures (more to come in the next few days):

We took a bunch of pictures of the guys and then headed to the Mill Mountain Star to run around before bed.  Eli has been asking to go to the star for a little while and got very excited as soon as he heard Charlie get home yesterday. “Now we can go to the star!!!”  We had a great time, got lots of cute pictures of the boys playing, and somehow had a potty accident that got Eli’s undies wet but not his pants (so we didn’t have to leave right away due to a naked boy).  Success!

My mom had our dear friend, Raynna Meyers come take pictures of our family last time we were in Ohio.  There were lots of great pictures that included the boys, but I thought it might be nice to change things up around here and go kid-free.  Here’s, by far, the best picture taken of us in the past…well, years:

With Mom:

I’m now 35 weeks preggo and it’s been a big week for us!  Eli has decided to use the potty for the past four days (even has a dry diaper when he wakes up in the am) and Sammy has finally been able to stay dry at night!  They’re helping get ready for Baby.  Yipee!!!!  Now if only we could get Eli to wear undies rather than going commando…

Bye-bye, diaper!!

This picture of Eli cracks me up…both boys cross their legs often and it always makes me laugh.

Notice Eli sitting between Charlie’s legs while he and Sammy wrestle.  They love their Daddy!

Look at the kites!!

Snacking and wrestling while we enjoyed the afternoon

We went to the kite festival in Salem a month or so ago…and I’m just getting around to putting up the pictures!  It was a very windy day, which was great for all the kites, but a bit of a challenge for Sammy.  (He is not a fan of wind.)  He braved the elements pretty well, though, and enjoyed himself after a few minutes.  Eli absolutely loved seeing all of the kites flying around.  There were tons of people flying kites, and then a roped off section for some kite performances.  Very cool.  We didn’t bring a kite, but wandered around the park, found a nice place to sit, and took it all in.  I was amazed that the boys sat and watched kites for about an hour!  Here are some pictures, and I’ll post more in the next few days:

Yes, we do get asked at least once a week if they’re twins.  One day someone asked us if we knew the date and Sammy’s response was, “we’re not twins, either”.  Best friends, though!  Can’t wait to see how the next little guy will fit in with them.  Six more weeks (at most) till his arrival!
