Sammy began his elementary career this past Monday and it’s been a good week!  He doesn’t like rest time very much and was disappointed to have to wait till next week to check out a library book, but other than that, he seems to love school!  We’re really thankful for that.

My dad’s still here finishing up the shed, so it was nice to have our own photographer as he left for school!

Abraham’s pretty sad about Sammy leaving, Sammy’s sad about being up and out so early

Walking to school!

I’m a few days late, but I’ve got some great pictures to share of Sammy, Eli, Abraham and even Wyatt playing in the gravel when it was delivered a week and a half ago.  The “boy” in all of them really came out with those rocks!

There was shoveling…

Abraham had to do everything his big brothers did, of course

There was climbing by all, even Wyatt…

Papaw even got in on the fun

For some reason, Abraham liked sliding down the wet gravel

Sammy posing and Eli jumping off the pile

Some more poses as they yell “king of the mountain!”

Wyatt’s response to Mom taking him away from the rocks:

Who knew building a shed would be so fun???

We’re still working on the shed over here at the Evanses.  And by “we”, I mostly mean my dad and Mr. Gruver, a good friend’s dad.  They have been amazing all week and we greatly appreciate their service. (The shed looks so good that we’ve had multiple offers for renters as people walk down our alley!)

The boys love “helping” them and so far that has included: spying, digging a hole that was turned into a booby trap, watching, climbing ladders, and nailing.  They’re really enjoying it!

Unfortunately, as I’ve been herding them around our construction site/alley with traffic, I dropped our camera and it’s broken.  I have some more recent pics that we’ve taken with my dad’s camera so I’ll share some as soon as I get Charlie to upload them.

In the meantime, I have plenty of good material to share from Monday!

My awesome sister Brittany loving the activity and nephew time

Brittany’s adorable Wyatt being protected from a loud saw

My awesome mom protecting the other adorable toddler from said saw

Abraham got over the noise and got all manly with the tools

Back to the beautiful work…

Jeff, my dad and Mr. Gruver (the 3 brains behind our operation!)

Jeff and Charlie, who isn’t as experienced but is a tireless worker and learning lots…I’m really proud of him!

And here’s a teaser for our next post, The Gravel Pile…

My parents came down last Thursday to celebrate retirement by helping us build a shed!  (are they great or what???)  Brittany, Jeff and Wyatt also came for the weekend to help so it was a fun, family weekend!  We’ve had lots of help from good friends and they are making good progress on our new shed.  Here are a few pics from the last few days (more to come as I have time):

Batman even showed up to help!

Dumping gravel

We had a busy weekend: an afternoon wedding Saturday right when Abraham would normally nap and then a pot luck lunch after church Sunday (also during nap time).  Abey somehow made it through all the activities going strong (for the most part), but crashed last night.  Abraham had gone up to the boys’ bedroom to play by himself but had been quiet for a while.  I went to check on him at about 6:15 and this is what I found: This is the first time one of our kids has put himself to bed.  🙂

Here’s a pic of the only other time I’ve found hime asleep somewhere:

It’s pretty tiring being a 2-year-old with 2 awesome big brothers to keep up with all day.

Sammy, Eli and Abraham spent a week at my parents house after our visit last month.  They had a great time with my family, but were happy to be home when the visit was over.  Having them come home was very sweet…the most excited to be with Mommy and Daddy that I’ve ever seen.  Abraham sat on my lap with a big grin for a long while that night.  (I loved that, of course!)

Anyway, on their first morning back to “normal”, they were all so happy to be home, in their own beds, with their stuffed animals and toys.  I got a couple of cute pictures of them extra excited about our (super exciting) house.  🙂

Sammy as “Duke” (someone from G.I. Joe’s)

Abraham enjoying a snuggly blanket

Tough Sammy and Abraham (who is wearing Sammy’s underwear over a diaper)

Everything gets much softer when Eli joins them (with a “cute bug”)

Abraham got tired, though, so he laid down on the floor for some “yeeping” (sleeping) Eli and his bug joined him with snuggles

It’s good to be home!
